My journey to making an 80-page book solely on one subject matter:
👇
I’m interested in everything and anything in this world;) So it’s probably no surprise that my all-time favorite podcast is “Stuff You Should Know”, where each episode takes a deep dive into a random subject matter. From car washes, zip codes, to my beloved zoologist Jane Goodall—Josh and Chuck never fail to educate me with humor and unbiased information.
SO I THOUGHT, WHAT IF I CAN TIE THIS TO MY LOVE OF DESIGNING BOOKS AND MAGAZINES?
CAN I MAKE A BOOK THAT SOLELY TALKS ABOUT ONE SUBJECT?
.

.
The answer is affirmative. But what subject should I choose? The options are simply too many.
So I did what I always do when I don’t have a clue on how to start: take a walk.
For days, I took snapshots of what sparked my interest, whether it’s food, architecture, or just things.
When I compiled my photos together, I realized that a lot of them have a common theme: glass. From the jam jar in the fridge, to my eye glasses; every window, museum, even our digital screens—they are all made out of different shapes of glass. Was glass always this prominent in our lives? How is glass even made? What are some other uses of glass that I have yet to found? My mind began to wonder.
And that’s how I decided on my subject. I wanted to make a book that attempted to answer some of my questions.
It should be educational but beautiful, like something that would sit in a museum gift shop.
Welcome to Glass, A Little Bit of Everything.
